Topological masking allows you to create masks that flow along a model's geometry. For most models, this makes it easy to mask limbs, fingers, etc.

To create a topological mask you must be have either Move, Scale or Rotate selected on the shelf. Topological masks are designed to work in conjunction with Transpose.

To Create a Topological Mask

  2. Press CTRL and click and drag along the surface of the model.

A Visual Example

  • Ensure Transform:Edit is active and one of the Move Scale, or Rotate modes are active.
  • Ctrl-click-drag on a small portion of your model's unmasked surface.
  • The mask will follow the line you drag out.
  • When you release the mouse button, the edge of the mask will be smoothed. More smoothing can be applied by Ctrl-clicking on a masked portion of the surface.
