This page is intended to help document some of the known ZBrush 3 workflow issues in order to help you avoid them, or to provide workarounds, if available.

Deleting hidden mesh makes you lose lot high frequency details in your model.

Go to the highest subdivision level, Ctrl + tap outside the model to mask all or press Tool: Masking: Mask All. Then press Delete Hidden.

32-bit displacement export unavailable in ZBrush 3

This will be released with the point update or earlier.

Normal map export unavailable in ZBrush 3

ZBrush 3.1 will have normal map capabilities. ZMapper for ZBrush 3 is still in development.

Can't add edgeloops to a mesh with a subdivision history.

This has been resolved in the point update.

Scale issues with objects when importing/exporting OBJs between applications.

Local subdivision results in loss of existing layers.

Original comment: I have a mesh with layers. I wanted to local subdivide an area so i went back down to subdivision level 1, masked and locally subdivided. Now my layer subpalette is disabled.

"You can prevent this from happening by disabling the layers prior to locally subdividing the mesh. The layer menu will then continue to work correctly. However, your existing layers will no longer be accessible." - Aurick

Can't transpose an entire model composed of subtools at the same time.

Try using Polygroups to separate your model instead of SubTools. Please see the Working with Multiple Objects section.
